Blue Light Therapy

Repair Sun Damaged Skin

Actinic Keratoses are pre-cancerous lesions that form on the skin from cumulative sun exposure. Photo Dynamic ‘Blue Light’ Therapy (PDT) is approved and indicated for the treatment of minimally to moderately thick actinic keratoses of the face or scalp.

We are the only Blue Light Treatment Center in Northern Arizona.

Q: Who is a candidate for PDT?

Any individual with sun damaged skin, inflammatory rosacea, acne, or actinic keratoses is a candidate for PDT. Patients who are pregnant, have been on isotretinoin in the past 6 months, or tanned/sunburned cannot have the treatment.

Q: Is PDT covered by insurance?

For the treatment of actinic keratosis, blue light treatment is covered by Medicare and other insurance companies.

Q: How do I prepare for my treatment?

Please arrive at Northern Arizona Dermatology with a freshly cleaned face – free of any makeup, aftershave, or moisturizers. You will also need to avoid ANY sun exposure for 48 hours after your treatment so we recommend bringing a wide brimmed hat or umbrella to your appointment.
